Condition grades

LumiLexicon uses standard antiquarian book trade condition grades:
GradeDescription
FineAs new. No defects, may be unread
Near FineClose to fine, minor signs of handling only visible on close inspection
Very GoodMinor wear but a clean, attractive copy
GoodAverage used copy, all pages and binding intact
FairHeavy wear, may have markings, tears, or loose pages
PoorSignificant damage, reading copy only
When in doubt, grade conservatively. Buyers forgive a book that’s better than described — never worse.

Acquisition lots

Books are grouped into lots — the batch you bought together. A lot tracks where the books came from (estate sale, thrift store, auction), what you paid, and how many books were in the batch. This is how LumiLexicon calculates your cost basis per book.

Valuation

Valuation pulls real comparable listings from eBay (active + sold) and AbeBooks, then AI analyzes the data to estimate a price range (low / mid / high) with a confidence score. It’s grounded in real market data, not guesswork. See How Valuation Works for the full breakdown.

AI agents

LumiLexicon has 15 specialized AI agents that handle different tasks — from Quick Snap identification to valuation to listing generation. Each agent has its own model, system prompt, and cost. You can see agent usage and costs on the Operations page.
